Dear Clinton Township Democrat:
Due to the mid-term vacancy of a Clinton Township Trustee, the Michigan Democratic Party members who reside in Clinton Township are to nominate a candidate for the special election to be held on November 8th, 2022.

Convention Rules & Eligibility
A proportional voting method as outlined in Section 6 of the Rules for Voting and Elections in the Michigan Democratic Party must be used.
Delegates to this convention will be residents of Clinton Township who are MDP members, Precinct Delegates elected at the August 4th, 2020 Primary, Democratic elected officials, and Democratic nominees to partisan office. Articles 3.2 and 3.3 of the Michigan Democratic Party Rules stipulate the following qualifications for candidacy and eligibility to vote:
In order to hold party office or vote at any Convention, Caucus, or meeting at any unit of the Michigan Democratic Party at any level, a person must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party for at least thirty (30) days prior to that Convention, Caucus, or meeting. A party member must be a qualified elector in order to vote on nominations for public office. Precinct Delegates, Democratic elected officials, Democratic nominees to partisan offices, and individuals whose membership lapses inside the thirty day window are exempt from the advance membership requirement. However, those individuals must be members in order to vote and may join or renew the same day as the Convention, Caucus, or meeting.
An official Call to Special Convention must be issued at least 14 days prior to the date of the convention. The Call will be issued via US mail and email to all eligible and interested persons and must include the qualifications for candidacy and eligibility to vote.

Due to health concerns and to encourage greater participation, we are recommending to conduct our elections via U.S. Mail to ensure the safety of all who wish to participate. Further, we are mindful of the income and technology divides prevalent in today’s society and want to be inclusive so that all can participate equally. Finally, mail in ballots will ensure an election that can be reviewed and recounted if necessary, ensuring that all votes are counted fairly and accurately.
Nominating Procedure:
To be placed on the official ballot a nominee must file a statement of intent to run for Clinton Township Trustee. The statement must include five signatures of eligible Clinton Township voters who are Michigan Democratic Party members. The statement of intent is due May 27, 2022 at 5:00 pm to the chair of MCDC. Instructions on Voting in the Special Nominating Convention for Clinton Township Trustee:
- You must:
- Sign your name – Rules committee members will attempt to contact voters if ballot if not signed to verify vote.
- Print your name
- Returning your Ballot
- Ballots must be received at the PO Box by Monday, June 13th.
- Self-addressed and stamped envelope included for convenience
- Ballots may be dropped off on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Democratic Office – 176 South Main – Mount Clemens
- Ballots must be received at the PO Box by Monday, June 13th.
- Ballots may be emailed to: mcdcvotes@gmail.com
- Deadline: Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 am
- Ballots must be signed, with name printed, and scanned

Tabulation & Notice:
Tabulation will occur on Monday, June 13th at 12:00 pm. Tabulation will be completed by Rules Committee members and each nominee will be allowed one observer. Results will be emailed to all MDP members and posted on www.macombdems.com/ctspecial
